“There’s got to be a better way…”

One of the things that first attracted me to my husband was his love for the outdoors.  When he was younger, living in a small town in northern Wisconsin, those who knew him used to say he could catch a fish in a puddle.

 Fast forward a few (well, more like 30) years later, and here we are, living in northern Minnesota, raising kids and Wirehaired Pointing Griffons.  We really lucked out with our founding female, Burly’s Lucky Lady. She’s an insane pointer, and a bold and fearless retriever.  The fact that we breed dogs who love to hunt gives my husband an extra push to get out as often as possible.

My husband had a fishing rod in his hand before he learned to walk, also started large game hunting at a young age, and was introduced to waterfowl hunting when he was 15 and has revisited this sector with vigor.  From geese in the field, to ducks in the swamp, he has fanned the flame and fallen in love again with the sport of it all.

I remember one day when he came home from a hunt which had been successful, yet he was frustrated at the lack of functionality of his lanyard.  Fumbling with calls, unable to efficiently grab and use the call he needed had proven to be costly on this day.  He started searching online to find a solution – he was on the hunt for a lanyard that would keep his calls in place.  We both looked and found nothing.  Sure, there were some with slight tweaks beyond the standard paracord lanyard, but nothing like what he wanted.  We have always both been McGyvers of sorts….could we design what he was looking for?

“There’s got to be a better way…” – the famous last words that started us on an adventure, a dream of sorts that we have been working on for almost 2 years now.

So here we are, a pending patent and an LLC later, ready to jump into this market with both feet.

We have different variations, but the gist of it is this – a lanyard that houses 3 retractors (easily customizable for more or less if so desired), protected by neoprene with an attachment for each duck call.  Pull the call you want, and it retracts back to its position on the lanyard, always secure and right where you left it.  Individually handmade, small business at the grass roots.  As of right now, these are specifically designed for waterfowl, but we’re looking into archery and fishing as well.

We had our big debut at the Sportsmen’s Show March 5-8, 2020 at the Fargodome in Fargo, ND.  We met many wonderful people, sold some lanyards and even got on the news.  Check the "In the News" tab for that story.

We feel there is much value to spending time outdoors, breathing fresh air and enjoying God’s creation.  It will be a turn in the right direction for young and old to spend more time outdoors.  The statistics regarding the decline of outdoor enthusiasts is concerning, and we hope that introducing new products that make the experience more exciting and enjoyable will be a benefit to everyone.  We offer youth sized lanyards with two retractors at a reduced price to cater to the younger market.

When it comes to matters of life, great and small, we look to Jesus;

but when it comes to lanyards, we have you covered, because...

You may not have all your ducks in a row,

but now at least your calls can be.

God bless, and happy hunting!
